How to operate BMW MKIV Navigation Destinations +

One of the most common questions that I get is how to operate Destinations+ in the MKIV navigations computer.

Destinations+ is a feature of the MKIV navigation computer that requires the BMW/Navtech DVDROM.  I know for a fact that it is supported on the 2004.2 version of the Navtech DVD, but not positive on earlier disks.

Both Regular searching of destinations and Destination+ are available via the GPS-Navigation menu of the BMW MKIV navigation computer.  Think of the nav display as a computer monitor and the Navigation computer as a desktop computer.  The computer runs software built in side for the operating system shown on the display and updated "information" is contained on the CDROM or DVDROM disk.

From the input Destinations menu choose Information to select Regular Destination information OR Destinations+ below is the regular information for a comparison  Skip directly to Destinations+

Sorry for the blurry picture, but General Destinations is the "regular" searching feature

The "regular" searching feature allows you to search on destination and locations

From the Regular Searching Feature, you get to select choices from a list of options

Basic listing of Destinations

Destinations+ provides detailed listing and the ability to search by names or partial names

From the "Travel Information" menu item select Destinations+

As you can see the menu items of Destinations+ are slightly different, and possibly more refined

Destinations+ allows for a more detailed level of searching

Once you have narrowed down your search you can now enter words or partial words that you desire to be in your destination name

You can also narrow down the search by setting a maximum distance from your location OR destination

The results are then displayed with the option to map to location or call location with your BMW phone, or BMW integrated Bluetooth phone.

In addition to the location of retailers and restaurants, Destinations+ also has a listing of corporations
