Depending on the gender of the plug you may need to remove the cover of the connector

Using a small tool, press the "catch" down on the pin and gently pull out (Do NOT cut the wiring harness off the car like in this photo.) 

Removing the pin is a two step process where you must press the catch down on each hole while gently pulling the wire out
