What is BMW Bluetooth? Bluetooth Functional Overview BMW recommended phones for BMW Bluetooth System Bluetooth Features and Functionality
Bluetooth is a new function of the latest cellular phones that allows you to wirelessly connect your cellular phone to other accessories such as a laptop or wireless headset. BMW's Bluetooth system takes advantage of this functionality to allow you to use your standard Bluetooth enabled phone in your BMW providing safe hands-fee operation while driving, plus some additional features such as voice control of your cellular phone and navigation system (if equipped).
The nice thing about Bluetooth is you do not need to physically connect your cellular phone to your BMW. You can keep your phone in your pocket or purse and still use all of the functions. The Module part number is different than the other part numbers on our website due the fiber optic connection. All Kits available for immediate Shipment BMW Model: PLEASE NOTE: If your 2010 and Older E90, E91, E92 BMW does not currently have BMW Assist you will need the microphone. 2011 and newer Model year 3 Series bluetooth kit comes with the BMW microphone included! Kits do not come with BMW Mounting bracket as they may already be installed in your vehicle. Also, in 2010 and older model year North American E90, E91, E92 3 series, depending on the configuration of your vehicle, you may need to add the BMW 3 Series SOS button, (Assist SOS Button in overhead console) for proper installation. SOS button allows for the proper operation of the Assist function if customer subscribes to this service. Also as a note on the fiber optic change that needs to be made as part of installing bluetooth or any other audio upgrade (such as a CD Changer) the instructions can be slightly confusing. In laymens terms is is simply MOVE the LAST ONE ON RIGHT, TOP over ONE SPACE, and insert the fiber optic for the module in the hole that was occupied by this. Then insert the bottom fiber optic for the module in the last hole (will match up with the fiber optic you moved). To determine the bluetooth module fiber optic line, I suggest using a flashlight and shining it into the fiber plug that connects to the module. You can easily identify the fiber lines right away using that method.
