This brand new and very cost effective item from Bimmernav replaces your current BMW CD changer function with a new MP3 player and Auxiliary Audio input. MP3s can be played from either SD Cards and USB Memory Drives, OR iPods and iPhones, with two different units available. One MP3 Player version allows you to play MP3s either from a standard USB memory stick and SD card while the other version comes with an IPOD Or IPHONE Connecting cable for MP3 player function from your Apple iPod or iPhone. The choice is yours on which Mp3 player function you would like supported in your BMW. In addition, both options have a standard Auxiliary Audio jack in order to connect any audio device.

This new device currently supports all BMWs without Navigation listed in the chart below, BMW X3 and BMW Z4 (with or without navigation), and Range Rover (with or without Navigation), Customers with BMW E38, E39, X5, E46 WITH the BMW Navigation can use this device however will need to order the optional 17 pin (2001 and older) or 40 pin (2002 or newer) connector adapter with this unit AND may require a BMW CD changer installed and working in the car for the device to function properly.

*PLEASE NOTE: Customers with 2001 and older Model BMWs WITH DSP amp please note that you must order the special DSP version

Please note this item is for the older style BMWs, such as E36 E46 E38 E39 E53 Z4 X3 Z8 Range Rover Rover 75 and MG ZT and we do not have a version for the newer BMWs, (E90, E60 etc) such as those equipped with idrive.

This MP3 Player normally comes with the standard 3 pin power and 6 pin Audio CD changer connector; however, we do offer adapter plugs for cars without CD changer prewiring and without the standard CD changer 3 pin and 6 pin plugs. PLEASE NOTE: Only in installations using the factory 3 and 6 pin plugs will also require an additional switched power connection as noted in below video. No separate connection is required with using the 17 pin or 40 pin connector.

MP3 Player Installed in BMW E39 with USB Memory Stick installed. You can mount the device where ever you desire, however the unit pictured is the version that connects directly to the CD changer 3 pin and 6 pin plugs. - Unit in photo mounted with double sided tape providing for a quick 3 Minute installation.

*MP3 player supports 6 Playlists. Using the BMW Radio CD Changer selector changes typically used to select CDs changes the play lists (folders CD01 CD02 CD03 CD04 CD05 CD06).

*MP3 Player supports Up and down arrow controls on the radio display and steering wheel as normal in controlling your BMW CD changer. The device operates in the same manner as the Original Factory BMW cd changer and has the same functions (such as no sub folder support and 6 folders listed as 6 CDs)

*MP3 player Plays MP3 and WMA at any compression level

*MP3 player directly connects directly to your radio wiring for the best integration and sound quality

*MP3 player Supports SD Cards and USB Memory Sticks unto 16GB OR Select the Option Below for Support of IPODs and IPHONES

*MP3 player Supports 6 Folders (CDs) with 1000 tracks in each folder

*MP3 player Supports last position memory function to resume playing MP3 when BMW is turned back on after turning off

*MP3 player supports Scan,random, and repeat as well as next and up and down volume controls. The system was designed to be a direct replacement for your cd changer

*MP3 player automatically skips to the next folder after all tracks have been played in the current folder

*MP3 player automatically plays music from audio devices connected to the Auxiliary Audio input jack (included in kit) when no SD card or USB card is inserted in one of the Cads slots, OR with the IPOD version when the iPod or iPhone is not connected.

*Please note, the MP3 player is a basic level system without MP3 ID3 support in most BMWs. Some BMWs may support Song Title name information on the instrument cluster, however support of ID3 tag information is not guaranteed as it depends on many different factors and we can not tell you for sure upfront if this is supported in your car or not until it is installed. Below video shows operating in a 2001 BMW E39 with the High cluster, and BM24 radio module with widescreen display

Compatibility Charts Older BMWs with 17 Pin radio adapter (2001 and Older BMWs). Please note 2001 and older BMWs WITH navigation must use this adapter AND have the BMW cd changer installed.

Supported Radios.

* Plug and play for cars with cd changers or CD changer wiring; Simply unplug your old CD changer and plug in the New Device. If your does not have CD changer wiring we also offer adapter harnesses to connect directly to your radio. If you prefer to mount the unit in the front of the car instead of in the back where the cd changer connectors are located (in cars without navigation only) you can also order the version with optional radio adapter harness in order to connect this device directly to the back of your radio.

If using the MP3 player with 3 and 6 pin connectors the BMW 2.1 meter Extension cable 84110141977 can be used to relocate the MP3 player to another location

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1) Customers with BMW E38, E39, X5, E46 WITH the BMW Navigation will need the 17 pin adapter, 40 pin adapter or CD changer Y adapter in addition to the BMW cd changer still operating in the car in order to support this device.

a) 17 Pin Y adapter 99-01 E38 or X5. Customers with a 2001 and older X5 or 99-2001 E38 7 Series WITH navigation can select the CD changer Y adapter cable instead of the 17 pin adapter for a quicker installation

b) Round Pin adapter, In cars without navigation this connector is required in BMWs without cd changer wiring or for custom installations where you would like to connect the unit directly to your radio in the front of the car. BMWs 2001 and older WITH navigation will need to order this harness for the unit to operate and may require a functioning BMW cd changer installed in the car.

c) Flat Pin adapter, In cars without navigation this connector is required for BMWs without cd changer wiring 2002 and newer models OR for custom installations where you would like to connect the unit directly to your radio in the front of the car.

BMWs 2002 and newer WITH navigation will need to order this harness and may require a functioning BMW cd changer to remain installed in the car.

2)2001 model year BMWs and older WITH the DSP will require the special DSP version adapter. Customers with 2002 and newer BMWs with DSP do not require this additional component

4) This item ships via DHL. If you are requesting the item to be shipped internationally (Outside USA), please note that DHL may charge an additional rural delivery surcharge fee. If you order and pay the fee and DHL does not charge this Fee for shipping we will promptly credit back you after you have ordered. There are no additional charges for rural USA with DHL but international shipping to rural areas will incur an additional charge

6) Please Note, when selecting the option listed below with IPOD/IPHONE Support the MP3 player will ship with iPod connecting cable instead of USB and SD Card slot. The MP3 Player supports either iPhones and iPods OR USB and SD Card for playing MP3s. Therefore you will need to make the selection on if you would like MP3s played from an iPhone or iPod or MP3s using a USB memory stick and SD Card (Upto 16GB in size - No USB Stick or SD card provided with unit).

7) It is recommended if using the MP3 player with USB/SD card support to use a Windows computer to format your MP3 media in Windows FAT (File Allocation Table) format. MAC computer formatting of FAT can put some hidden files on the USB/SD card media and can sometimes cause issues such as duplicate song number reporting, or MP3s not playing properly. To avoid potential issues, it is advised to use a Windows 32 bit computer with a memory stick in FAT format and to copy MP3 files to your USB/SD cards.
