This Kit of BMW harnesses is the BMW Original solution for retrofitting the latest BMW navigation radio in a 2001 and earlier BMW with the old style "round pin" 17 pin radio to the latest 40 pin radio.
This harness has the proper wires moved and includes a BMW 6 pin audio connection perfect to support Sirius, MP3 Cd changer and Ipod.
With this adapter harness upgrading a 2001 and Earlier E39, E39, X5 with or without the DSP amp is a simple and straight forward plug and play process
If your BMW has the round pin 17 pin connectors (for example BMW older than a 2002 model year), and you want to replace the radio headunit in front, or the navigation radio module in back, this adapter will connect to your 17 Pin connector wiring in the car and properly convert it to a 40 Pin BMW plug.
The Kit comes with the 6 pin CD audio plug that allows older BMWs with the DSP amp to install the neer BMW radios that support BMW Sirius Satellite radio, allow for support of the BMW Auxiliary input, and Newer BMW CD changers that play MP3s
